THE car park in Torcross, used for the traffic diversion while the sea wall is being repaired, will be reopened as a car park in time for Easter.

The car park will be open from this evening, Thursday, March 24, until Monday, April 11, and there will be a single lane open with temporary traffic lights on the A379.

Devon County Council and Devon highways have been working to repair the sea wall which collapsed in February, and have replaced the damaged section with large metal pilings driven into the ground.

Work on the section is nearly finished with workmen saying they expect their part of the repair to be completed ’three or four days’ after they return on April 11. The road will then need re-tarmacing, which is weather dependant, but then the repairs should be finished and life in the village can return to normal.

The vibrations and shaking that many Torcross residents complained of in recent months and years has also stopped, thanks to shingle returning naturally with Northern and Easterly winds and swells.

So Torcross is officially open for business and looking forward to the Easter holidays!
