After four years, Salcombe has a new Town Mayor in the shape of former deputy mayor Cllr Nikki Turton, as she takes over from Cllr Mike Fice.

Cllr Mike Fice stepped down as mayor at Salcombe Town Council’s annual general meeting on Wednesday, May 9, and welcomed Cllr Nikki Turton in his place.

Cllr Fice took a few minutes at the beginning of the meeting to give thanks to everyone who have ‘helped and supported’ him over the past four years.

Cllr Fice said: “First of all to the many councillors who have come and gone. To the various Gazette reporters we’ve had here who usually report things pretty fairly and accurately, which is always good to know!

“Thank you to all town councillors, both past and present, for your help and support for me, it has been very well received. Thank you to Pete Robinson, our project manager for willing to work behind the scenes.

“And last but not least, many, many thanks to our Town Clerk Gill Claydon, I have to say without whom this role would have been impossible.”

Cllr Philip-Lafferty Holt will take over Cllr Turton’s former role as deputy mayor.
