THROUGHOUT October, a team from Bartons Solicitors have walked more than 150 miles along the South West Coast Path, with weekly walks covering different distances and different parts.

The walks were organised to raise funds for their 2016 chosen charities - the Fisherman’s Mission and the South West Coast Path Association.

The fundraising started on Sunday, October 2, when director Rebecca Weare took part in the South West Coast Path’s event, the Trail Running Challenge.

Rebecca ran a gruelling 17.5 miles along what’s been described as ‘one of the most magical trails in Europe.’

Rebecca completed the course in little over four hours, and said: ‘The trail challenge was exceptionally tough but absolutely beautiful, showing off the coast path at its best.’

Along with the weekly walks taking place throughout October, the epic finale took place last weekend (October 28 and 29) when Rebecca and Howard Quinlivan walked the full 65 mile stretch from Plymouth to Totnes in 48 hours, with supporters, friends, family and colleagues joining them for shorter sections.’

The Fishermen’s Mission care for active and retired fishermen in the most practical of ways, when they need it most. They help fishermen who have been in an accident, are taken ill, face poverty, are bereaved or simply need someone to talk to.

The South West Coast Path Association works to ensure the Path is one of the best walks in the world and protected for all to enjoy. It costs £1,000 per year, per mile to maintain and repair it and they need all the help they can.
