The Met Office has issued back to back weather warnings for heavy rain across the South Hams.

The yellow warnings are in place from 3pm on Friday, October 25, to 3pm on Saturday, October 26.

It’s predicted up to 80 to 90mm of rain could fall in places, with forecasters saying flooding is likely.

Strong gusts of up to 50mph are also expected in coastal and hilltop areas.

The warning said the worst of the weather was expected to hit around Friday afternoon.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Rain is expected during Friday and Saturday and this is likely to be heavy over high ground, particularly parts of Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin Moor.

“Many places within the warning area will see relatively small amounts, but over high ground some places may see 80-90 mm.

“This will be accompanied by strong winds which could reach 50mph over coasts and hills.”
