A group of 200 people of all ages will be taking to the ocean to raise money for two charities.

On Saturday, August 11, four teams will be racing in the fifth annual Pub2Pub Aquathlon.

The teams will be made up of people from Bantham, Thurlestone, West Buckland and an international team. The 2.5km swim will start at the newly renovated and opened Pilchard Inn on Burgh Island at 4.30pm, pass through the Avon river mouth and finishing at Jenkins Quay, taking on the incoming tide as they go.

Swimmers will then run to the Sloop Inn, where participants will receive a drink and a pie upon arrival. There will also be a winning cup for the first team to cross the finish line.

Teams are to meet and check in by 4pm, and wetsuits are strongly recommended.

The money raised from the event will go towards two charities: Bantham Surf Lifesaving Club, and Bantham Sailing Club and School.

The organisers want to thank their sponsors Lidstones Butchers, Ashfords Solicitors and The Sloop Inn.
