SALCOMBE RNLI have produced a short film to mark the centenary of the Salcombe Lifeboat disaster, in which 13 Salcombe lifeboatmen lost their lives.
The film will be shown at a number of venues in the South Hams throughout the year.
The film, which tells the full story of the disaster, was made by television cameraman Chris Tizzard.
It is presented by well-known TV personalities Adam Hart-Davis and Monty Halls, Devon actors Midge Mullin and Dan Sinnott, the crews of the historic pulling and sailing lifeboat - the Ryder of Looe, the Baltic Exchange III all-weather lifeboat from Salcombe as well as volunteers from NCI Prawle Point.
The film will be launched at Cliff House, Salcombe on Thursday, March 31 at 7.30pm where it will be combined with a slide show and talk by Adam Hart-Davis and Roger Barrett - the author of the book about the disaster which was published late last year by Salcombe RNLI.
Further screenings are planned at Cliff House on Wednesday, June 1 at 7.30pm and Wednesday, August 3 at 3.45pm.
