South Hams District Council is looking for an operator to run a passenger service between Kingsbridge and Salcombe over the coming holiday season.
Salcombe Harbour Board would like to seek expressions of interest from parties who would be available from Easter until the end of the summer holidays. This has previously been a very popular ferry route and is an important link between the two towns.
The vessel must of course be MCA compliant and sufficiently shallow that it can make return trips to Kingsbridge within the tidal window, since Kingsbridge basin does dry out at low tide.
South Hams District Councillor and Chairman of the Salcombe Harbour Board, Cllr Julian Brazil, said: "This is a great opportunity for an operator to become involved in a very popular, and important, ferry service between these two towns. The service can become very busy during the holiday season.
"We were very disappointed that this service was not provided last year and therefore, is a top priority for the Harbour Board."
