Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary Club have delivered a cheque to a primary school following their charity swimarathon.
Robin Rose-Price, the rotary club’s youth service chairman, came to Stokenham Primary School to present a cheque for £950 to the pupils.
He said that Stokenham Primary had raised the most amount of money across the primary schools, but hadn’t quote won the shield for the highest sponsorship per team. Stokenham entered ten teams and raised £1,900, but Loddiswell Primary just beat them by entering less teams and therefore raising £225 per team.
The swimarathon raises money for local causes and primary schools, with the funds raised split between the primary schools who take part and local charities. The 2017 swimarathon was supporting the Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Homestart.
Robin Rose-Price told the pupils that they were living up the Rotary Club’s motto of ’Service Above Self’ by “going out and raising money which has benefitted charities and schools”.
