An event is being organised to promote local organisations’ work in the community, enable them to network with each other and gain volunteers.

Our Community Matters will be held at the Market Hall, Fore Street, Kingsbridge, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 26, 27 and 28.

Organiser Lawrence Townsend said: “With the pressure on voluntary organisations to take on greater community responsibilities, it has become more important for groups to be working together for the benefit of our collective community here in Kingsbridge.

“With this in mind, we are organising an event to enable groups or organisations to promote their role in the community and, in the process, enable networking with other like-minded organisations in our town.

“It could be a real opportunity to advertise your presence and possibly gain new volunteers to support your organisation.”

Lawrence first came to Kingsbridge while cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End. Having “fallen in love with the town”, within ten days he had cycled back to Sussex, and back down to Kingsbridge to complete the purchase of his house for his retirement.

Eight tables will be available on a first come, first served basis, and can either be taken for one day or all three, but must be pre-booked. If you would like to find out more, call Lawrence on 01548 856206.
