FRUSTRATION erupted in Kingsbridge today, as loading bays at the top of Fore Street were once again occupied by shoppers, forcing a lorry to unload in the middle of the road.
Fore Street erupted into a cacophony of shouts and horns as the lorry blocked the road, causing tailbacks down to the Quay.
The driver was furious, having already driven ‘around the block’ once, in the hope of the loading bay being vacated.
The driver suggested that the council change the delivery bay to ‘HGV only’ to fix the problem.
Some delivery drivers use the more considered approach of parking half of their wheels onto the pavement when the loading bays become available, but this can cause damage to pavements and restrict the path for pedestrians.
But this of course, isn’t an option for HGV vehicles.
