I would like to thank the Liberal Democrat candidate for South Brent and Yealmpton, Mr Alan Power, for last week’s strong, supportive and meaningful response to my letter, Gazette, March 17, inviting local MPs to read my book Switch Back to get a better understanding of life in children’s homes, so that MPs have a better understanding as to how the new benefit rule stopping 18- to 21-year-olds from receiving housing benefit could mean so many children coming through the care system could now end up homeless at the age of 18.

Mr Antony Power has done some great in-depth research about looked-after children in Devon and I hope, win or lose in the election, Mr Power will pass on his findings to other MPs and fight for looked-after children.

I appreciate the time and effort Mr Power has put into his letter in the Gazette and I wish him well in the forthcoming elections.
