A YEAR 8 pupil at Kingsbridge Community College is taking part in a five-day sponsored silence and a sponsored cycle to raise money for Help For Heroes.
Molly Johns, from Malborough, is an active member of the Kingsbridge Air Cadets and has chosen to raise money for the charity that supports injured veterans.
‘I want to go into the forces when I’m older’, explained Molly, ‘so it could be me, my family or my close friends that need Help For Heroes.’
Molly started off wanting to join the Royal Air Force, but is also considering a career as an Army officer. Her sponsored silence will take place between Monday, May 23, until Friday, May 27, beginning and ending when she gets on and off the school bus every day. She will have to pass notes rather than talking and she thinks it will be quite hard as she described herself as ‘chatty’.
The sponsored cycle will take place on exercise bikes in Quayside Leisure Centre on the Saturday after, May 28, along with eleven of her Air Cadet friends.
If you would like to donate to Molly’s fundraising efforts, there is a sponsorship form at Malborough Post Office or pop along to see them in action at the sports centre between 8am and 4pm.
