KINGSBRIDGE Community College has been ranked in the top 100 schools in the country by the Department for Education.

Official figures released by the DofE puts KCC in the top one and a half per cent of all secondary schools in the country, ranking 94th out of more than 6,000 schools.

This is based on the Progress 8 measure, the new benchmark for schools. It measures the amount of progress that students make between the start and end of their Secondary phase across a basket of challenging subjects including English, Maths, Science, a modern language, and History or Geography, together with three other subjects.

Executive Principal Roger Pope said: ‘We were delighted that this summer’s GCSE results were the best ever. This figure shows that we did not just beat our own previous best, but that at KCC students are making better progress than at the vast majority of schools across the country.‘Parents, visitors and educationalists often praise the calm and purposeful atmosphere of the college. To be rated in the top 100 , the top one and a half percent of all schools, including grammar schools, in the country is a great objective judgement of our quality. I am now looking forward to working with our new Principal Kenny Duncan as he leads us to even greater heights.’

New Principal Kenny Duncan: 'It is so exciting for me to have joined such a vibrant and successful school and to be taking over the leadership of KCC from Roger. KCC is nationally recognised for its focus on excellence and innovation, it has grown in stature nationally in recent years and is now at the forefront of educational development and research. 'Staff, students and the community are justifiably proud of their school and with results that top the national tables why wouldn't they be! It's a fabulous endorsement of the focus and effort that goes into each and every student who attends the College. 'I look forward to leading the next phase of the development of the school and making sure we continue to excel in all that we do.'Chair of Governors Jeremy Fothergill said: ‘The Governors are delighted at this external validation of the success achieved by the staff and students. Under our new Principal, Kenny Duncan, we are confident that the College will continue to build on this success.’
