KINGSBRIDGE In Bloom have come away from the South West In Bloom competition as Gold winners.
The Kingsbridge team won the South West Tourism Association Cup and the City of Bath Trophy for landscaping at the awards ceremony held at Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, last Thursday.
The team attended the regional award ceremony, along with 300 other delegates, and received their new flag for being the SWTA Cup Gold winners and the City of Bath trophy and their certificates – all of which are now on show at the Kingsbridge Information Centre, thanks to manager Samantha Short.
The ‘It’s Your Neighbour-hood’ groups, where residents take responsibility for their own locality, also received excellent results, with five areas being judged ‘outstanding’.
The IYN results: Tresillian Early Years Nursery Garden – Developing, Fore Street Planters – Thriving, Kingsbridge Methodist Church – Thriving, Kingsbridge Museum – Thriving, Primrose Line Railway Bridge – Thriving, Brittons Field Community Project – Outstanding, Kingsbridge Primary School – Outstanding, Lime Kiln – Outstanding, Church Street Garden – Outstanding and Saffron Park Gateway Garden – Outstanding.
Graham Price, chair of KIB, said: ‘The judges gave us very positive feedback and were most impressed with our entry and displays.
‘They were particularly impressed with the floral safety message on the Town Square which has received over 40,000 positive hits on social media.
‘Thank you to everyone for all of their hard work, it’s great for Kingsbridge and we should all feel very proud of these prestigious awards.’
