Hope and Anchor staff have been donating their cash and growing their tash throughout November to raise money for local causes.

For the third year running, the team at The Hope and Anchor Inn, Hope Cove, have been raising money by donating their tips through November - or Movember as it is known - whilst growing moustaches.

Usually Movember is an event that raises awareness about Men’s Health, however the Hope and Anchor always gives the money it raises to local causes.

During the month, all the staff donate their tips to the cause, and this year they nearly doubled the amount they raised in 2016 - resulting in £1,520 which they have split between Salcombe Primary School and Aveton Gifford Primary School.

Manager Christopher Roberts said: “Children cost money. Schools are where children go. Unfortunately it is a fact that schools are facing a combined £2.8 billion worth of cuts to funding, whilst becoming more and more oversubscribed each year, and whether this money goes towards books, pens, or whatever – we’re sure it will be worthwhile. After all, the children are our future.”

To also help with funding, this Saturday Aveton Gifford PTFA are holding a Christmas Fair in the school and village hall between 2pm and 4pm – a great chance to support the school, and local businesses, alike.
