Cllr Jonathan Hawkins, a volunteer at the food bank, said: “This was a very kind and generous donation. The food bank is increasingly busy, so it’ll be a great help to look after our clients.”
League of Friends chair Carol Lingard said, since the closure of the hospital, the group decided not to disband but use their funds to support the community.
She said: “We’ve spent money on equipment for Dartmouth Clinic, physiotherapy department and district nurses, and we also donated money to the food bank during lockdown. We decided it was time to do so again hence this donation. During the pandemic we’ve been unable to fundraise so have not had any income apart from a small legacy.”
