KINGSBRIDGE Community College is on the look out for a new Principal as Roger Pope spends more time leading the Multi Academy Trust.
Mr Pope, who has been the principal at KCC since the 90s, is Chief Executive of the trust, which includes Dartmouth Academy, and the Our School Federation of East Allington, Blackawton, Stoke Fleming and Kingswear Primary Schools.
A spokesman for the college said that Roger Pope is ‘not leaving KCC’ but is ‘spending more time on the leadership of our Multi Academy Trust’, but will be ‘remaining very much hands-on in the role of Executive Principal’.
Mr Pope, who was also appointed as chair of the National College for Teaching and Leadership in October last year, said: ‘As I am increasingly spending more of my time on this wider work as Executive Principal, the Governors have decided to increase our capacity by beginning the search for a new Principal to work with me at Kingsbridge.
‘This will ensure continuity for the standards, ethos and success that we have established here.’
As the news of a new principal at KCC hit social media, commenters were full of praise for Roger Pope and put forward their own thoughts as to who should become the new principal.
Courtney Jones said: ‘Mr pope was an amazing principal he was such an understanding man and cared so much about his students in the school’, while Nina Haywood said: ‘Mr Pope is a fantastic head, and knows each and every one of them kids by name. In my opinion he has done a brilliant job’.
All of the six people who put forward a name as their preferred teacher to take over as principal named one person on the Facebook post: Wendy Ohlson, current assistant principal.
The job description says that the position requires that the successful applicant ‘will be uncompromising in [their] pursuit of excellence whilst placing strong inter-personal relationships at the heart of all [they] do. [They] will enjoy working in a context where our local community is important to us’.
Details of the principal job are available on KCC’s website: www.kingsbridgecollege.org.uk
