PUPILS at Aveton Gifford primary school planned and organised a Christmas Fayre at the school on Monday, December 14.
The children brought in decorated jars which they had filled with sweets and chocolates to be sold on the ‘jazzy jar’ stall. Parents and carers supported the event with a delicious array of cakes, buns and biscuits donated to sell in the Christmas tea shop. A selection of pre-loved toys, books and raffle prizes were also donated.
The younger children spent the morning making salt-dough Christmas tree decorations along with sequin and glitter-covered baubles. The older children prepared bags of reindeer food - essential for when Rudolph stops by - paper chains, bracelets and many other items to sell.
Academy federation administrator Tina Roberto said: ‘We would like to say a very big thank you to all of our parents and carers who came in and helped with all of the preparations, helped to run the tea shop, the face-painting, the wonderful shadow puppet show and generally supported this event.
‘A particular thank you must go to Father Christmas who interrupted his very busy schedule to come along and visit the children. Our first children’s Christmas Fayre raised the amazing amount of £452.36 which the children have decided to donate to our ‘sister’ school in Cambodia.’
