CHILDREN and staff from Aveton Gifford primary school celebrated Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday in style on Tuesday, September 13.
Everyone came to school dressed as a character from one of Roald Dahl’s much-loved children’s books, including Matilda, Fantastic Mr Fox and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The day was spent creating a colourful Roald Dahl display, complete with ‘fairy light dreams’ and readings of wonderful stories such as James and the Giant Peach and The Enormous Crocodile.
The older children in Year 5 and Year 6 looked at his Revolting Rhymes and how he used the endings of well-known fairy tales in them - working in groups, they created their own alternative endings.
While the children in Year 3 and Year 4 undertook an in-depth study of Fantastic Mr Fox.
And the younger children had a lovely time re-creating the famous chocolate factory and making their own delicious goodies.
