SOME of Dartmouth’s young sea cadets were presented with awards recently for activities including outdoor pursuits and first aid gained during and after lockdowns.

CPO Louise Brown, TS Dartmouth Commanding Officer, said: “During lockdown the sea cadets have had to adapt to delivering training virtual. Many cadets gained many qualifications and promotions. It’s great being back face-to-face even in a different way to ensure we are covid secure. Cadets have already been on face-to-face course including first aid, drill and mountain biking.”

Dartmouth’s Sea Cadets are based with Britannia Royal Naval College and cater for ages 10 to 18, then volunteers 18 and over. Their training is based on the traditions of the Royal Navy.

CPO Louise Brown added: “Sea cadet groups are run by instructors who are all volunteers, and offer many different activities and experiences that the young people may not have the opportunity to do elsewhere.

“We are always looking at growing our team and are currently seeking new adult volunteers and committee members. Any interest or queries please email [email protected]
