School children enjoyed an afternoon on the estuary thanks to some generous funding.
Charleton Primary Year 5 and 6’s were treated to a canoe session along Bowcombe Creek.
Nine children enjoyed an afternoon exploring Bowcombe Creek and the wildlife in and around the estuary.
School administrator Alison Jeffery said: “Some of the children had never been in a canoe before, so it was a great opportunity for them to have the experience.”
The afternoon ended with a game of canoe tug of war and mad paddle to collect the most balls thrown overboard. Staff are hoping to arrange another visit in the Autumn term.
The day was sponsored by members of the South Pool Cruising Club and organised by Matthew Needham, Rick Marchand and Dave Halsall of Singing Paddles.
