DAVID STEVENS, treasurer, Holy Trinity Church Salcombe, of Church Street, Salcombe, Devon TQ8 8DH, writes:

Most of you will have seen the recent article in the Gazette about the church clock, or the town clock, as it is so prominent in the town and useful to many.

The cost, as stated, is £5,000 excluding VAT, so the church will have to find £6,000 as it is not VAT-registered.

We are therefore appealing for donations towards the cost.

We have already raised £1,500 with the help of a grant of £500 from Salcombe Town Council, but we still have a long way to go. Any amount would therefore be welcome.

Please send any donation that you feel able to give, along with your name and address so we can gift aid your donation if appropriate. Cheques should be made payable to Salcombe PCC and sent to the treasurer at the above address.
