Brixham College, part of Thinking Schools Academy Trust, is celebrating this morning as pupils receive their GCSE results.
School leaders say the results reflect the hard work and dedication of pupils as they achieve another strong and consistent year of results.
The number of students achieving the highest grades of 7 and above in both English and maths increased by 3 per cent, and the College saw particular success in creative subjects including photography, art, 3D design, textiles, sport and child development. The school was also pleased to share that there was a 60 per cent increase in the number of top grade 9s.
Alongside the school's overall success, many pupils have achieved exceptional individual results, including:
- Sophia Little, who achieved seven grade 9s in English literature, English language, geography, history, religious studies and combined sciences.
- Julia Dubis, who secured grade 9s in English literature, history and Polish, grade 8s in biology and chemistry and a grade 7 in English language.
- Noah Smallbones, who achieved a grade 9 in history, grades 8-7 in combined science and grade 7s in English literature, geography, maths and sociology.
- Taylor Wing, who was awarded grade 7s in biology, chemistry, physics and maths.

Collecting their GCSE results today, Sophia Little said: “I am so happy to get my results and feel supported by my teachers through and through. A lovely learning environment since Year 7 – I am very grateful. I will be staying here at Brixham College Sixth Form. “
Matus Pococha added: “It’s been a long time waiting for my results. I’m so pleased with my grades. I’ve loved all my teachers. They’ve really helped me to get the grades I’ve needed.”
Gracie Edgecombe also said: “I’m so amazed. I’ve really loved the school and the support from English. Now I’ve got my place at Bicton College to do Outdoor Education.”
Rebecca Blackshaw, Principal at Brixham College, said: “Today is about celebrating every student’s individual success and recognising that there are many different exciting opportunities ahead, whether it's moving on to sixth form, college, apprenticeships or employment. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and grateful to our staff, families and wider community for their support.
“These outcomes reflect the school's continued focus on raising achievement for all students through targeted support, high expectations and a commitment to ensuring every young person can succeed, and we are particularly pleased to see improved outcomes for our SEND and Pupil Premium students, including more SEND students achieving strong passes in English and maths.
“We are delighted for all our student community and look forward to seeing what they achieve next. We also look forward to upholding our high expectations and support, building on these strong foundations for all Brixham students.”
Jay Davenport, Regional Director at Thinking Schools Academy Trust, said: “Today is a celebration of the commitment, perseverance and success of our young people. At Brixham College and across our schools, students have worked incredibly hard to achieve these outcomes, and we are proud of everything they have accomplished. We wish them every success as they move on to the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.”
