THE ANNUAL celebration of ‘all that is wonderful’ about the Start Bay area, ‘Celebrate Start Bay’ will be taking place on Sunday, August 7 this year.
The event showcases the great outdoors, with stalls, food and crafts, hands on activities and entertainment for the whole family.
There will be local businesses, artists and crafts people promoting their local produce, creations and offers from Hunt’s Cider and South Hams Brewery to Devon Rural Skills and Ventura Creative Projects.
Find out more about your local environment and take a closer look at the birds, bees, moths and marine life of Start Bay with the Field Studies Council, South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Devon Wildlife Trust, Devon Birds, the Devon Moth Group, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, the National Trust and many more.
Enjoy music from The Storm, get your face painted and learn to fly with the falconers!
And when you have enjoyed all of that you can sit back and enjoy stories with storyteller Clive Pig, get great local barbecue food or a yummy pizza from the Stokeley Farm Shop team.
Celebrate Start Bay was launched after local businesses got together to make suggestions around how to showcase the area in an event.
The event is organised by Slapton Ley Field Centre, which welcomes more than 5,000 visitors every year to learn about our environment.
Our intention is to bring together businesses from the Start Bay area to promote local produce and services, create an attraction for tourists in Start Bay and to maintain awareness of the fragility of Slapton Line, when faced with winter storms.
Held annually in August this year on Sunday, August 7, from noon to 5pm at Stokeley Farm Shop.
With free parking, admission and activities, Celebrate Start Bay provides a taster of the area with local businesses providing food and activities and an emphasis on the outdoors.
