THREE Kingsbridge residents have raised over £200 towards their charity causes with a stall on Tesco steps.
Amy Lethbridge, Hannah Bradbury and Kirstie Lett are all raising money for different charities and decided to pool their resources to make the most money for their causes.
Amy is fundraising for Devon Air Ambulance, Hannah for The Brain Tumour Charity and Kirstie for the British Heart Foundation.
‘We were up at 6am and setting up at 6.30’ said Amy, ‘Unfortunately due to work commitments Kirstie was unable to join us for the day. However we set up and got everything ready in the pouring rain.
‘We spent the previous two days baking cakes and making flapjacks, brownies, shortbread and many more delicious goodies. Also we had lovely ladies donate cakes to us, so a massive thank you to them.
‘We got rid of lots of items via the jumble sale and we were amazed at how many people popped up to see us. We are overwhelmed with the outcome and never expected to make as much as we did.’
The trio raised £216 to be split between the three charities.
Amy and Kirstie are planning a Grand Canyon trek in October next year to raise money for their charities. Amy was inspired to raise money for Devon Air Ambulance after her friend and colleague was killed in a car accident, while Kirstie is fundraising in memory of her baby cousin who died of an undiagnosed heart condition at just six-months-old.
Fundraising for Amy and Kirstie’s trek continues with a Christmas quiz at Chillington Village Hall on Saturday, December 12. To find out more, contact ‘Amy Lethbridge’ or ‘Kirstie Lett’ on Facebook.
‘It would be brilliant to have people’s support’ continued Amy, ‘Everyone so far has been generous and amazing. Hannah and I are going to plan a cake bake day whereby we will make as much flapjack, shortbread, cupcakes and brownies as we can and sell to the public. Dates and venue to be confirmed.’
