A DRIVER found to be more than three times the drink-drive limit has been given a suspended jail sentence.
David Samuel Paul Varcoe, 62, of Greenback Close, Slapton, was driving a Seat Arosa when he was involved in an accident near his home on October 9. Tests revealed he had 115mcgs of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.
Varcoe admitted the offence when he appeared before magistrates in Torquay on Wednesday.
He also pleaded guilty driving while uninsured.
Varcoe was given a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for one year, banned from driving for 28 months and ordered to pay £85 costs plus a £115 victim surcharge. His driving licence was also endorsed with six penalty points.

A WOMAN has been hit with more than £800 in fines and costs after failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of a Ford Ka, who was alleged to have been guilty of speeding.
Nicola Jane Rafferty, 44, of Britannia Avenue, Dartmouth, was fined £660 and ordered to pay £85 costs plus a £66 victim surcharge by magistrates in Torquay on Wednesday, after the case against her was found proven.
The speeding charge, which was withdrawn, related to an alleged offence that took place in Lymington Road, Torquay, on April 8.
