South Hams District Council has issued a warning after a resident received a scam telephone call from someone purporting to work for SHDC and asking for bank details.

The council posted on Twitter warning this was a scam and stating that it would never offer refunds over the telephone.

A council spokesperson said the incident had been reported to the police’s Action Fraud team and urged anyone who received a similar call to go online to www.actionfraud.police.uk or call 0300 123 2040 to report it.
