Another successful charity collection in Tesco raised an impressive £221.67 thanks to the generosity of shoppers.

Volunteers collected money in the foyer in Tesco alongside a life size horse model, kindly loaned from Countrywide, causing many shoppers to do a double take at the figure.

The international charity raises money that improves the lives of horses in the UK and around the world through education, campaigning and hands-on care.

The nationwide network of Field Officers involved with the charity, investigate and resolve thousands of calls about horses in distress made to its hotline every year. In addition, the charity runs four rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming centres in the UK.

Recently the work of World Horse Welfare has welcomed the announcement that CCTV will be made mandatory in all English slaughterhouses from Spring 2018.

The charity has campaigned since 2013 for this implementation to help the Official Veterinarians in monitoring welfare and also serve as an excellent training resource for slaughterhouses to help make all processes as welfare friendly as possible.

WHW also provide an educational service to share essential horse care knowledge with owners, as well as training farriers and saddlers in some of the poorest communities across the world.

Collectors on Wednesday, December 20, also included Sarah Harvey, Mary Brown, Penny Hind and Mike and Ceri Jayes.
