UPPERCUTZ in Kingsbridge has raised more than £1,070 for the Breast Cancer Awareness campaign.
Uppercutz, a hair salon in Kings Market on Fore Street, owned by Kelly Reeve, had a Pink Day in the salon to celebrate their first year in business.
They held a prize draw with prizes of pink GHD straighters, £125 worth of KMS products and a salon voucher, and raised £555 for Cancer Research UK. This total was nearly doubled unexpectedly when a client donated £500 in memory of her daughter Caroline.
Kelly, along with her staff Dani Patey, Kelly Reeve, Mandy Lakeman, Leah Jordan, Jayne Owen, Rachel Treeby, Jasmine Kelly and Megan Vaughan all dressed up with pink wigs and served cupcakes and champagne on the day.
The staff said they were ‘speechless’ at the donation and it brought their total up to £1,055. By the end of the campaign, the salon raised £1,070 for the charity that aims to improve the dos of survival for the 140 women a day that are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK.
