SALCOMBE’s flood alleviation scheme is progressing slowly, with the town council reporting that works are now complete on Raleigh Road and that the road is now open.
Work has now begun on Kingsale Road and is progressing well, with about 40 per cent of the pipe now installed.
However, due to the bank holiday week and the team hitting a rock seam, slowing down excavation work, the notice has been extended.
Additional shoring has been delivered to Courtenay Park, and work has been able to continue, but again due to the delay, the notice has been extended.
The most challenging part of the scheme has been overcome on Allenhayes Road, and progress has been made further down the road, meaning that the pipe can be installed at a shallower depth, hopefully improving production.
