Kingsbridge will be the star in a big screen production, which is coming to town next week.The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry is based on a book of the same name and will star award-winning actors Jim Broadbent and Penelope Wilton.
Jim Broadbent is best known for playing Lord Longford in the television film Longford as well as a supporting role as John Bayley in the feature film Iris. He won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for his role in that film as well as winning a BAFTA TV Award and a Golden Globe for his leading role as Lord Longford in the television film Longford (2006). Broadbent received four BAFTA Film Award nominations and won for his performance in Moulin Rouge! (2001). He was also nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards and four Screen Actors Guild Awards.Penelope Wilton starred alongside Richard Briers in Ever Decreasing Circles ands Isobel Crawley in Downton Abbey.Filming will take place Monday September 27 with preparation taking place the day before.The Bake House on Fore Street will be transformed into a post office and Harold Fry, played by Jim Broadbent, will be seen walking at the top of the street.The production company are asking that people avoid parking in the bays outside The Bake House and looking down the hill while filming takes place. It should last for an hour and a half.
