The Cove in Hope Cove won the Taste of Devon Hospitality - Best Bistro category and runner-up in the Best Pub category at the Food and Drink Devon Awards and attended the award ceremony on Monday, October 10, at Deer Park Country House Hotel in Honiton.

Toby Robinson, co-owner of The Cove, said: ‘Its fantastic to win this year and last year, its a seal of approval and its great as a independent business to win these awards and they make a difference.

‘I want to thank everyone for being so supportive for the two-and-a-half years we’ve been here. Its really pleasing, we’re trying to build a business and stick around for a long time.’

The Food and Drink Devon Awards ‘celebrate the very best Devon has to offer by recognising our most respected and influential artisan food and drink producers and establishments’.

Other businesses that won Food and Drink Devon Awards in the area include Salcombe Dairy Ice-cream for their Blackcurrant Sorbet and South Hams Brewery for their Eddystone brew.

Barbara King, chair of Food and Drink Devon, comments on the awards: ‘I’m extremely proud to be involved with Food and Drink Devon and its awards’ programme. For the awards to receive over 160 product entries, 14 entries in the Retail Awards and 44 entries in the Hospitality Awards it really shows the strength and depth of food and drink in our fabulous county.

‘I would like to congratulate all those who won and were shortlisted for awards, it’s a fantastic achievement. It’s through Devon’s outstanding producers and establishments that we’ll continue to put Devon on the map as a serious food destination.’
