A TEAM of twelve staff members, family and customers from The Start Bay Inn, Torcross raised £400 for Children’s Hospice South West at the Exeter Rainbow Run last month.

The Rainbow Run involved running five kilometres around Exeter racecourse while being pelted with powder paint.

Everybody in the team, finished the event, and they are all keen to try again next year.

Gail Stubbs from the Start Bay Inn said: ‘The weather was kind, with a breeze and no rain. I can only imagine what we would have looked like afterwards if the heavens had opened.

‘We were delighted to find Darth Vader and his team to jolly us along before the race.

‘We ran roughly 800 metres before having to run through a cloud of green powder paint.

‘Luckily we had all been informed to wear sunglasses as some of the paint throwers were quite enthusiastic.

‘By the time we got to blue further along the track we were ready for another pelting with powder paint only to find even more enthusiasm from the paint throwers!

‘We passed pink and yellow then back around  half the course for more green and blue then orange to finish with drummers welcoming us back to the finish line.

‘Everybody in Team Start Bay finished and had a very hard-earned ice cream.’

The team were Charlotte Barker, Catherine Sly, Clair Martin, Gail Stubbs, Daisy Jacob, Sam Roberts, Louise Martin, Chloe Searle, Max Jacob, Joe Searle, Rebecca Tuck and Wesley Flanagan. To donate money to Children’s Hospice South West, visit the page: uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Gail.Torcross.
