THE Stanborough Chorus will be celebrating their 30th anniversary of their founding this month with a performance of Carmina Burana.

The event will celebrate the founding of the choir in 1985 by Rosemary Cole and the formation of the chorus with the Rev Peter Nock as its founder chair.

Carmina Burana is a scenic cantata, or vocal composition with an instrumental accomplishment, written by Carl Orff in 1935-1936, based on 24 poems from the medieval collection of the same name.

Christopher Fletcher, Stanborough’s present Musical Director has put the chorus through its paces to ensure an evening to remember. Guest soloists include local baritone Henry Tozer, formerly a pupil of Kingsbridge Community College.

The Kingsbridge Community Girls Chamber Choir will also be taking part in the performance.

This is a truly celebratory evening for the community and an opportunity to meet with founder members of the Stanborough Chorus.

Rosemary Cole will be an honoured guest along with her husband Ray, together with life members.

This is the final concert of this year’s Vocal Festival and will support charity Devon Free Wheelers, who transport urgent medical supplies, blood and transplant organs around our local community.

The event will take place on Saturday, November 14, starting promptly at 7pm at St Edmund’s Church, Fore Street, Kingsbridge.
