The Met Office has issued back to back weather warnings for heavy rain across the South Hams.

The yellow warnings are in place from 7pm on Wednesday, October 30, to 7am on Thursday, October 31.

It predicts 40 to 60mm of rain could fall in South Devon, with forecasters saying flooding is possible.

The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts across Devon during the same period.

Strong easterly winds are also predicted along the coastline.

The warning said the worst of the weather is expected to hit overnight.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Areas of rain will become heavier for a time during Wednesday evening and the early hours of Thursday, easing towards the morning.

“The rain will be accompanied by strong easterly winds, particularly along the English Channel coast.

“Around 15-35 mm of rain will fall widely with 40-60 mm possible in parts of South Devon and Dartmoor.”
