South Hams Newspapers has handed over a cheque for £495 to the Kingsbridge branch of the Royal British Legion.

Colin Davies, poppy appeal organiser, and Leon Lock, branch chairman, accepted the cheque from Sam Jackson and Amanda Bloomer, advertisement sales executives at South Hams Newspapers.

They money was raised as South Hams Newspapers donate 20 per cent of the revenue raised through the Remembrance Day advertising to the Royal British Legion.

Leon Lock said: “A big thank you to all at South Hams Newspapers for their wonderful generosity adding to the poppy appeal in Kingsbridge. It is much appreciated, thank you for all your hard work.”

Jane Devonshire, advertisement manager, said: “We are delighted that we were able to support the poppy appeal again this year. This is thanks to the hard work of Amanda and Sam and support from our advertisers.”The £495 total was up £135 on last year.
