Local shops in Kingsbridge will be open on Sundays over the six weeks of summer, encouraging people into the town.
At least 21 independent shops and businesses will be open on Sundays for the summer, a scheme called ‘Open Sunday!’, giving locals and tourists more options for retail therapy over the weekend.
Samantha Dennis, Kingsbridge Information Centre, said: “As chairman of the Kingsbridge and Salcombe Chamber of Commerce and a Kingsbridge Town Councillor, I am delighted that there will be more of an offer for visitors to our town this summer.
“Having worked in the town and with the retailers now for the last eight years I know just how many conversations and how much walking up and down Fore Street it will have taken to convince business owners to give this a go.
“The fact that the individuals involved have managed to reach that crucial tipping point, and organise this is to be applauded.
“I would like to encourage everyone who loves Fore Street to support this scheme, take advantage of those extra hours to browse the shops and remember that by shopping local you contribute to the local economy.”
Open Sunday has so far signed up Taylored Games, Coasters Coffee Co, Tidal Gallery, Habit, Harbour Bookshop, Amarie’s Kitchen, Scoops, Nonsuch, Nicholson’s, Mayne Gallery, Occasional Cards, The Card Shop, The Trading Post, The Art Café, Cocoa, Fat Monkey, Posh Totti, Mudra, Spotted, Pig Finca and Bocchinelli.
