What has happened to Salcombe?

Salcombe, Kensington by Sea, second to Sandbanks.

With all the very expensive homes in Salcombe, plus the holiday homes, and all the residential houses, where does all the council tax go?

Salcombe is a disgrace, compared to Kingsbridge, Dart­mouth and even Paignton.

While out walking, we sat at North Sands on the benches by the railings. There are at least two years of autumn leaves, weeds and general rubbish by the railings and the wall.

Walking back to Salcombe, there are weeds everywhere. The hill out of North Sands is so uncared for. There are very large saplings growing out of the cliff, which will cause damage later; weeds restricting the width of the road; and further along the road, weeds, weeds and more weeds.

The road surfaces are a disgrace, particularly Devon Road, by the Cliff House woods and Shadycombe Road. Other forgotten things not being maintained are the drains.

The two at the bottom of Coronation Road are none existent and it has been like this for at least two years.

I wonder how many white collar employees there are at Follaton House, compared to manual labourers.

Bring back the Salcombe Urban Council times and dear old Arthur Lapthorn – Salcombe is a disgrace.
