A TEAM of rowers from Salcombe Estuary Rowing Club will take to the water as part of the Dragon Boat Festival.
Supporting the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, the Dragon Boat Festival on Exeter Quay will see the ‘Salcombe Oarsome’ team take part of Sunday, September 25, between 10am and 4pm.
The twenty team members and a drummer have had a chance to try their skill in a dragon boat and found it very different to the rowing they normally experience in a Cornish Pilot Gig. However, they are doing it for a very good cause.
Salcombe Estuary Rowing Club committee member Gail Allen said: ‘The DAAT maintains an invaluable service to everyone who lives in or visits our beautiful county and it relies entirely on charitable donations to operate the helicopters who provide this vital service.
‘After fundraising for many weeks and with the support of families and friends, the team have managed to raise an impressive £2,500 but with a target of at least £3,000 there is a little way to go yet.’
