Ryan Hayman has been true to his word and has raised nearly £300 for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust after he was airlifted in August.
Ryan, 10, was playing in the play area at Duncombe Park when a swing hit him in the stomach and he fell back and hit his head. He was airlifted to Derriford Hospital on August 3. When we spoke to him a week later, he said he wanted to fundraise for the charity, but wasn’t sure how.
Ryan and his family teamed up with the football community at KM United and held a fundraising day.
Mark Hayman, Ryan’s dad, said that on Saturday, September 10, “while the training took place on the Malborough pitches, parents took full advantage of cakes, sweets, drinks and fruit available in return for donations, whilst the younger ones had fun on a bouncy castle”.
Ryan and his family wore air ambulance T-shirt’s while manning the stall and Ryan was happy to explain all about his accident in Duncombe Park and why this lifesaving charity flew in to rescue him.
Ryan and his family said thank you to Dave Gritton for the PA system and bouncy castle, Tesco for donating a large box of goodies, friends and family for all the cakes and all at KM United who generously donated, allowing Ryan to hand £288 to the Devon Air Ambulance Trust shop in Kingsbridge on Thursday, September 28.
