SALCOMBE Players have donated nearly £2,500, raised by their latest panto, to the town's swimming pool.

Members of the Players presented a cheque for £2,400 to Peter Tobin, chairman and a trustee of the Salcombe and District Swimming Pool Association.

Peter said: 'We rely on local support from organisations such as the Players to keep the pool as a resource for Salcombe, and we are always grateful for donations like this.

'For the past two years, we have made a profit and that's allowed us, for example, to renew some benching – one of the many things on our wish list.

'However, we need to retile the pool soon – a very expensive task, so will need more help, not just volunteers in the foyer, but also help in fundraising.'

Christine Bonner, director of last year's seasonal panto 'Puss in Boots' and secretary of the Players, said the group's next fundraising event would be a revue – not a panto – at Cliff House on December 10, 11 and 12, a week later than usual.

Anyone who wants to get involved, on or off stage, should contact Christine on 843243, and those interested in joining the Salcombe Players would also be very welcome to attend the AGM on Tuesday, May 5 at Salcombe Yacht Club.
