An application has been submitted for the erection of eight dwellings, including affordable housing, access and associated landscape in Frogmore.

The proposed development site is positioned at the East of Creek Close in Frogmore as pictured.

The application has not been submitted by a commercial resident developer, but instead by a farming family, the Perraton family. They have been farming the application site for over 50 years.

As stated in their Design and access statement, the family have recognised, “the need for additional housing” in the area to help South Hams District Council in meeting housing targets.

A representative from the Campaign to Protect Rural England group has spoken on behalf of the South Hams branch to strongly object to the application.

Justin Haque, a representative from CPRE has explained how the original application started out as 40 houses, then it got reduced to 28 and recently down to eight houses.

With 11 houses already built on the site, adding an extra eight would result in 19 houses which Justin describes as, “a substantial and overbearing development on an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.”

CPRE believe that this development is not within the proposed Neighbourhood Plan for Frogmore, thus given the planning history for the area, “the application is purely oportunistic.”

They believe that the protection of the AONB and the unique character of Frogmore Creek should be granted with the “maximum protection.

“We appreciate the Council’s previous refusals of applications on this site and we hope it will continue to refuse this inappropriate and unnecessary application.”

Heritage have commented that there are no Listed Building’s between 1-2km of the application site that are deemed to be relevant for consideration with regards to the nature of the proposed development.

The reference number for this development is 3880/17/OPA if anyone would like to submit a comment.
