I have visited www.onecouncil.org.uk, to examine the proposals regarding the merger of South Hams and West Devon Councils, and simply wish to object to the suggested merger.
However, as with the questionnaire on the website which was put up regarding the Kingsbridge Quay development, where one had to accept that there was going to be some sort of development before responding, it is impossible to object to the merger via the One Council website unless one accepts the premis that this merger is going to go ahead.
Before one can progress one has to answer the question over what period one would like to pay for it. I do not wish to pay for it at all.
I think this is an unethical, improper and inappropriate questionnaire from which unfair and inaccurate conclusions could be drawn.
If SHDC thinks that this merger is such a good idea, it should have confidence in its arguments, inform the council tax payers, and allow them to state their views in a simple and straightforward way, by saying “yes” or “no”.
