A NEW project is beginning at Kingsbridge Library next week: ‘Men’s Shed’ - a place where men (and some women) can share tools and resources they need to work on projects of their choosing.

Trish Warren, community activities manager at Age UK Devon explained: ‘It will be a place for skill-sharing and informal learning, of following individual pursuits and community projects, of purpose, achievement and social interaction. A place of leisure where men come together to work.’

Trish continued: ‘The Men’s Sheds that have been set up throughout the UK have proved to be a great success for both the ‘shedders’ and the local community through the work that they undertake.

‘Examples are renovating furniture for charities and repairing equipment, such as tools to be used for community projects. There are a huge number of potential ‘shedders’ in the Kingsbridge area, with skills and experience that could be utilised or shared with others, along with a welcome cuppa.

‘I believe that this is a ‘win win’ situation for all concerned.’

Does Kingsbridge need a Men’s Shed? If you think so, you’re invited to come along to find out about this exciting project.

There will be an open meeting at Kingsbridge Library on Wednesday, March 30 at 6pm.
