STEPHEN Yabsley, 53, has denied trying to kill police officers during an incident in Kingsbridge? in May.

Yabsley was alleged to have used an angle-grinder to inflict serious injuries to two officers after they were called to a disturbance.

Yabsley pleaded guilty to using the tool to cause grievous bodily harm on the officers when he appeared at Plymouth Crown Court on Monday via video link from Long Lartin prison, Worcestershire.

He admitted affray after using or threatening unlawful violence against a member of the public but denied the two attempted murder charges, and also a second count of affray against another member of the public.

Judge Ian Lawrie adjourned the hearing until December 10, while a psychiatric report is prepared.
