KINGSBRIDGE resident Lee Wellington has improved on his Devon County Show result by coming first and becoming Champion at the Royal Cornwall Show.

Lee entered Barfield’s Madison, who he owns with girlfriend Louise Sharpe, into the Inhand Coloured Three-Year-Olds British Skewbald and Piebald Association and came first, before going on to be named Champion.

The Royal Cornwall Show is only Lee’s third show, he and Madison came in third at Devon County Show last month, in just his second show, all against seasoned professionals.

Louise Sharpe, who says she trained both Madison and Lee said: ‘They qualified for the supreme inhand championship, the Cuddy Championship. More than 20 horses, who were champions in their section, came forward for this Royal International Horse Show Qualifier. She did very well, but sadly not placed in top three.’
