TWO ex-Kingsbridge residents are among guests from Germany visiting the town as part of the Twinning Association exchange.
Twenty-seven visitors from Weilerbach in Germany are visiting Kingsbridge between September 30 and October 5, with the Kingsbridge contingent planning a return visit next year.
Michael Roos, 63, is a retired football referee who was born in Kingsbridge and moved, with his mother Heather Roos, 86, to Germany when he was seven. Both Michael and his mother are returning to the town for the first time since leaving in 1960.
Jean Turrell, Kingsbridge Twinning Association, said: ‘It would be nice to know if anyone remembers Heather, whose maiden name we don’t know, and her son and wonder if we could arrange a reunion with anyone from their past.’
Of the 27 guests arriving in September, the KTA have hosts for 18 of them, but are seeking others from their membership, but if you would like to host a German visitor or couple for five days, contact Jean on 01548 521341.
The visitors are aged between 25 and 86 and efforts will be made to match people with similar interests, ‘One visitor has an interest in building model airplanes for example’, said Jean.
The KTA are hosting a boules and barbecue event on Sunday, September 4, at Hallwell House, South Pool, starting at 12.30pm and all are welcome. Call Jean for more information.
