The Kingsbridge Parkinson’s Support Group has raised more than £330 at a fundraising and awareness day at Tesco.
The group set up a display in the foyer at Tesco in Kingsbridge on Wednesday, April 12, when Tesco customers generously donated £330.19 to the group funds.
The aim of the Support Group is to reach out in the local community and bring together people diagnosed with Parkinson’s, their families and carers and to encourage mutual help and support.
The funds are used to support local group activities, to contribute towards Parkinson’s UK research into new and improved treatments and for the provision and support of specialist Parkinson’s Nurses.
The group meet on the third Thursday of each month at 11.15am at the Creeks End Inn for refreshments, advice and companionship. New members are always welcome; just turn up for a cup of coffee.
Presentations on the latest research into treatments and care are held to keep members up to date. A Christmas lunch and outings are organised for members, their families and friends.
