KINGSBRIDGE Estuary Rotary Club has donated £250 each to Kaleidoscope South Hams and 1876 Squadron Kingsbridge and District Air Training Corps.

These are the first donations from the club’s new community support scheme, with two donations having been made to kick the scheme off.

Following this, it is hoped to make one donation of £250 each month to a cause that is judged to best benefit the local community.

Rowena Halle from Kaleidoscope said that the £250 donation was very welcome and would help their football team to buy track suits and pay for training costs.

Kaleidoscope have recently moved into new premises at the top of Fore Street in Kingsbridge, from here the team supports adults with learning difficulties to live independently, pursue individual interests and participate in community activities.

Many activities take place at the Fore Street hub, including drama, art, craft, pottery, music and the social event of the month - the ‘hub grub club’.

Kingsbridge and District ATC intend to use the donation to buy a projector for training purposes and contribute toward the cost of archery equipment for the cadets.

ATC district chairman Leon Lock received the £250 cheque and said that it was much appreciated and would benefit the ATC cadets.

He added that new cadets, both boys and girls would be welcome to join the squadron, which meets on Tuesday nights at The Hut, Wallingford Road in Kingsbridge.

Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary Club is keen to hear from organisations, charities, clubs, schools and individuals who would like to make an application for a £250 grant.

Members of the rotary club judge the best application each month.

If your application is not successful straight away, it will be carried forward and you could be awarded a grant in a later month.
