A fun bridge evening, held in memory of Brian Cook, took place at The Regal this week, with prizes galore.
Brian, a former member of the club and former editor of the Gazette, was honoured at the competition at The Regal in Kingsbridge on Tuesday, June 19.
Ann Cripps, chair of Kingsbridge Bridge Club, said: “Tess [Brian’s wife] came before we started playing and everyone was so pleased to see her. Bill Luscombe and Peter Lucas recalled there memories of playing with Brian, he was a member for over 20 years of the Regal and had been made an Honorary member for his service to the club.”
Ann thanked those who helped make the evening possible, saying: “Thanks to the newspaper for providing the medals.”
The gold medals went to Lesley Goonesekera and Vivienne Mugford, playing north south, and Jenni Harvie and Jean Lee playing east west. The silver medals were won by Robert and Jill Down, playing north south, and Claudette Uff and Gillian White, east west.
Brian died on April 1, 2017, and was survived by his wife Tess, their two children Susy and Matt, and their grandchildren Maisie, Eilidh, Daniel and Joel.
